Fenella Smith Notebooks

Today I’m going to review notebooks from Fenella Smith London.

Fenella Smith London is an English company who design and produce high quality homeware, ceramics and gifts. I was lucky enough to receive three notebooks from this wonderful company and I’m excited to share the details of them with you!

Each notebooks costs £11.00 and I’m happy to share with you that you can receive a 20% discount throughout November 2018 using code ANNIEE20 at www.fenellasmith.com (offer valid from 1st – 30th November 2018).

Now let’s begin the review..

The notebooks come with a variety of different cover designs and each design has matching accessories available to purchase separately. I love the bright colours of the covers and the simple repeating patterns/ designs that are used for each and this makes the notebooks very appealing to me. Each notebook I received (Peacock Feather, Panda and Bee & Beetle *) has gold detail on the cover which I think makes them just that little bit more special than others on the market. Each of these softcover notebooks has a black elastic enclosure band.

pen test

Each notebook is A5 size ( 15 x 21 cm approx.) and contains 70 unnumbered white pages of 80gsm paper. Each page has a space for the date at the top and an arrow illustration at the bottom, which is a nice detail. I love that the paper is incredibly smooth because this makes it easy and comfortable to write on.

My pen test is a little bit messy.. I purposefully chose some of the darker colours of  pens from my collection as I’ve experienced problems with these in the past – in various other notebooks I’ve used. The Fenella Smith notebook stood up incredibly well to the pen test. There was no bleeding and the only ghosting (which was so minimal it’s barley worth even mentioning, was from the Stabilo Point 88 pens when I used them to block in). There was some very slight feathering from the wider tip pigment liners I tested but in all honesty that isn’t an issue for me as I wouldn’t ever write in a notebook of this size using a wide tip pigment liner anyway.

Note: I did not test any fountain pens.

I think this is a lovely A5 notebook, ideal for carrying in your bag and filling with on-the-go to do lists, using at work or as a journal at home (which is what I’m going to use mine for). It would also be a beautiful gift to give.
